Agenda
Item #1. Introductory Remarks
At 6:30, Mr. Jim McKenna gathered those in
attendance to prepare for a site tour. He described the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
Permit for Corrective Action and Waste Minimization (Permit Number
VA1210020730) issued to Alliant Ammunition and Powder Company LLC and the
United States Department of the Army, copies of which will be added to the
RFAAP information repository at the Christiansburg library. The 1987 RCRA
Facility Assessment will also be added to the information repository.
Agenda Item #2. Radford Army Ammunition Plant (RFAAP)
Site Tour
Mr. McKenna and Mr. Jerry Redder led a tour of Site
Screening Area (SSA) sites and structures included RCRA permit. These
sites, listed at the end of these notes, will be screened to determine the
need for further action. RAB members were driven around the RFAAP in a
van. There was frequent discussion about the status of SSA sites and
questions about general facility operations—past, present, and future.
Agenda Item #3. Closing Remarks, Schedule Next
Meeting, Adjourn
Mr. McKenna concluded the tour at 8:30 p.m. Another
site tour—this time for the New River Unit—is planned for the next RAB
meeting, will be held on Thursday, 20 September 2001, at 6:30 p.m.
